Farewell

Cesar came
Mighty empire he built
Deserted ruins stand gazing
Alone every marching road

Gunshots toward the sky
Screams echo around us
They’re celebrating our leaving
Women with black veil
Silently they watch
Deep are their eyes
Kids with crowbars tearing the base’s gate
Fine material to replace blown up roof

Immerse in the cold desert
As far as eyes can see
It swallowed a few drops of my blood
Pieces of flesh from some one I called
Brothers
And no doubt
A lot strangers and
Distant broken hearts
My accomplishments I guess

Dry white tumble weeds fly in the sandstorm
Black smoke line with brown jeeps
Fare thee well
Arms
I’m done with you
